For the trope, Sharif in Menace 2 Society, Tre in Boyz In The Hood even Morris Chestnut character ( he wanted to go on to play football). Another thing is that hood and Black is used interchangeably but even then there are girl/guys who grew up in the hood who will go for the 9-5 type of dude over the scammer and drug dealers because they themselves are doing the same in terms of goals. The same can be said about the "good girl" who may love adventurous activities that are legal (snowboarding, skydiving, traveling) and the "bad girl" who just loves to smoke weed and turn up in the club.Īll that to say that humans including in the Black community are complex. It sucks that society adheres to such rigid stereotypes when it comes to people because there are "bad boys" who have nerdish qualities about them but also lots of swagger and "nerdish" guys that are extreme a.holes. The hood girl usually likes the hood type of dude because they have things in common.
the women who like the "thugged out dude" are usually on his level. The thing is all women like different things in a man. Alot of Nice guys and girls do actually finish last because of this. Even if they have a person who's a good guy or girl, as soon as that "bad" woman or man presents themselves, that person will drop the nice one and go after them.

Alot of people equate being a nice drama free person as boring and "settled" in life. The drama and having the "I can "fix" him/her mentality and setting out to do so is what makes some people feel truly alive, that they lead interesting and important lives. their baggage, and drama is the only excitement that alot of people will experience.
Working themselves more than halfway dead and sleeping, trying to catch up on everything else the other half. Alot of people will live the life of a survivalist.

Alot of people aren't going to lead adventurous lives full of excitement, travel, and more cultural exposure and defined experiences. For alot of people in general "Bad boys" and "bad girls" offer that excitement and escapism from mundane life.
